I don’t have a shabbat mode on my rented refrigerator. The lights can’t be disabled. Can I cover bulbs with a cloth so that I am not using the light? Or am I not allowed to use on the chag? thank you

If I have an electric oven/ stovetop, can I leave the stovetop on the lowest and raise it to cook for shabbat over yom tov?
